BIOX: BIO FOR, Fluorine-free wetting and foaming agent effective on class A/B fires

BIOX: BIO FOR, Fluorine-free wetting and foaming agent effective on class A/B fires

Thanks to its wetting and foaming properties, BIO FOR is highly effective in extinguishing class A fires in solid fuels, such as forest fires, urban fires, industrial fires, recycling facilities, as well as minor class B hydrocarbon fires. BIO FOR class A/B foam is used by fire brigades and municipal services.

The wetting properties allow water to penetrate deeply into solid materials, while the foaming properties enable the foam to adhere to vertical surfaces, resulting in faster extinguishment and long-lasting burnback resistance.

BIO FOR class A foam is Newtonian and represents an environmentally friendly solution: 100 % fluorine-free foam (F3) and fully biodegradable.

  • BIO FOR C can be used from 0.1 % (ultra-concentrated) on class A fires and 0.3 % on hydrocarbon fires.

  • BIO FOR N can be used from 0.1 % (very concentrated) on class A fires and 0.5 % on hydrocarbon fires.

  • BIO FOR S can be used from 0.5 % (concentrated) on class A fires and 3 % on hydrocarbon fires.

BIO FOR – Environmentally Friendly Foam and Wetting Agent for Class A and B Fires

Effectiveness on Class A and B Fires
BIO FOR is a highly concentrated foam and wetting agent that forms a foam blanket, highly effective even at low concentrations, from 0.1 % to 3 %. It is used to combat class A fires in solid materials, such as forest fires, urban fires, industrial fires, and recycling facilities, as well as minor class B hydrocarbon fires. BIO FOR is utilized by fire brigades and municipal emergency services.

The foam’s wetting properties enhance water penetration, reduce surface tension, and allow water to deeply penetrate solid materials, resulting in faster extinguishment and reduced risk of reignition. Its foaming properties enable the foam to adhere to vertical surfaces for extended periods with minimal runoff while providing a cooling effect. When applied to forest fires, for example, BIO FOR increases the moisture content of solids, creating a protective barrier against advancing fire (wet line application).

Environmentally Friendly and Fluorine-Free Formula
BIO FOR class A foam is an environmentally friendly solution: 100 % fluorine-free and fully biodegradable. The foam contains no fluorine compounds, halogens, or PBTs (Persistent, Bioaccumulative, and Toxic substances) that are harmful to the environment and living organisms. BIO FOR class A foam also complies with the European Groundwater Directive, making it safe for use in environmentally sensitive areas.

More than 90 % of all municipal and rural fire calls are for this type of fire, making BIO FOR an attractive option for fire departments due to its ecological and biodegradable properties.

Versatile Usage and Fuel Types
BIO FOR is ideal for municipal services for extinguishing class A fires (solids) and can also be used on minor class B hydrocarbon fires.

Application on Class A Fires:

  • Forest and wildland fires: wood, bushes, vegetation…

  • Structural fires: apartments, houses, farms, warehouses, vehicles, tunnels…

  • Industrial fires: landfills, waste, plastic, paper, tires, rubber, textiles…

  • Mine fires

  • Wet line application

Application on Minor Class B Fires:

  • Vehicle fires

  • Fuel tank leaks

Applications and Users
BIO FOR is used by municipal fire brigades, emergency services, and industries. Thanks to its strong wetting and foaming properties, low concentration requirements, and environmentally friendly profile, it is a reliable solution for effective firefighting and long-lasting burnback resistance.

Compatibility

Newtonian firefighting foam compatible with all dosage systems (contains corrosion inhibitors)
Can be used in mobile and fixed foam fire fighting systems (foam box, High Expansion generators, fire hose stations, monitors, foam branchpipes, CAFS system…)
Can be applied aerially from helicopter bucket
Compatible with both air aspirated and non-air aspirating foam discharge devices

Usage

Effective at Low, Medium and High Expansion
Usable from 0.1% to 3% depending on the concentration rate
Usable with fresh or sea water

Concentration

Lower concentration increases firefighter autonomy, reducing intervention times and overhauling operations.

BIO FOR C Can be used from 0.1% (ultra-concentrated) on class A and 0.3% on hydrocarbon fires.
BIO FOR N Can be used from 0.1% (very concentrated) on class A and 0.5% on hydrocarbon fires.
BIO FOR S Can be used from 0.5% (concentrated) on class A and 3% on hydrocarbon fires
