Effectiveness on Class A and B Fires
ECOPOL class A/B foam is effective against both class B fires involving hydrocarbons and polar solvents, as well as class A fires. On hydrocarbon fires, ECOPOL can be compared to AFFF foams. The foam concentrate forms a protective foam blanket that quickly spreads over the fuel surface, providing rapid fire control and efficient extinguishment. The alcohol-resistant (AR) foam generates a polymer film on the fuel surface, blocking oxygen supply and preventing reignition, offering exceptional burnback resistance.
The insulating properties of the foam can also be used to contain toxic vapors from polar solvents that react with water. Its high adhesion allows the foam to stick to vertical surfaces, such as aircraft fuselages, enabling rapid cooling. Thanks to its high wetting properties, ECOPOL can be applied to class A fires, where it penetrates materials and cools them deeply, providing protective fire barriers during forest fires and preventing fire spread.
Environmentally Friendly and Fluorine-Free Formula
Since 2002, when BIOex launched the first Fluorine-Free Foam ECOPOL, the product has been an environmentally friendly and easily biodegradable alternative with high extinguishing performance. ECOPOL is completely free of fluorine compounds, halogens, and PBT residues (Persistent Bioaccumulative Toxins) that are harmful to the environment and living organisms.
Using ECOPOL as an environmentally friendly foam offers a sustainable option with high fire-extinguishing efficiency. The foam has achieved GreenScreen certification, an independent standard promoting the use of inherently safer chemicals in products and PFAS-free firefighting foams.

ECOPOL can be applied with low expansion for indirect application via vertical surfaces, medium expansion for uniform coverage without foam contamination, or high expansion to fill large volumes such as hangars, warehouses, and engine rooms. The fluorine-free formula is also used in medium expansion to minimize vapor release from acids such as HCl and NH₃.
